Atomic Heart - PS4/PS5/Xbox Series X
Released in March 2023, from game developer Mundfish, Atomic Heart has been heralded as a strong first person shooter, which is an easy and fun pick up play single player game.
Without giving too much of the story away, Atomic Heart is based around the relationship between humans and robots, once living and working together in a utopian world in harmony. However, as we all know, the relationship between humans and machines… it never ends well. One day everything is perfect, and the next the world is turned upside down and war breaks out between the two.
The reviews for Atomic Heart were good; an overall score of 70 on metacritic lets you know that you’re in for a good time here. GamingTrend gave a score of 95 and said “Nailing down a few things Atomic Heart is phenomenal at is nearly impossible because it’s extraordinary in all of them. This isn’t just my favorite game of this year, it might be one of my favorites of the decade.”
Shacknews were also very positive towards the game, saying “Atomic Heart is undoubtedly one of the best first-person shooter campaigns I’ve played in years. In addition to rock-solid gameplay, the game offers an intriguing mystery and a robust upgrade system. It’s even more impressive when you remember that this is the first game from Developer Mundfish' giving it a score of 90.
Atomic Heart is available on all formats, including PS5 and Xbox Series X.
You Suck At Parking - PS5/PS4/Xbox Series X/Xbox One
If you’re looking for a fun, arcade racer to entertain you for hours, then read on. You Suck At Parking, no it’s not that local Facebook group for your town which shows photos of people who can’t park properly, it’s an actual game developed by Happy Volcano, and shock horror, it’s incredibly fun to play.
An overall score of 74 on Metacritic, You Suck at Parking has been labeled as a hot, refreshing racing game which is fun and easy to pick up and play for hours of endless joy. XboxEra gave it a score of 80 whilst saying “You Suck at Parking is a refreshing addition to the racing genre unlike any I have seen before. The controls are simple and the gameplay is accessible but things soon develop into a far more complex challenge”.

The Chant - Limited Edition - PS5 and Xbox Series X
We’ve had a first person shooter and we’ve had a fun racing game, all ticks, let’s move on to something a bit more… scary, shall we?
The Chant is a single-player, third person horror action-adventure game set on a remote island spiritual retreat. Honestly, alarm bells should be going off as soon as you hear “remote island”, right? Keeping people awake at night since its release at the end of 2022 by developer Brass Token, The Chant received many positive reviews on its way to an overall score of 68 on Meta Critic.
PlayStation LifeStyle summed it up nicely by saying “The Chant is a fine first offering from Brass Token. It may be a bit rough around the edges, but overall, this is the perfect thing to play for those long, dark nights coming this season. With a short playtime and three different endings to unlock, this should be fun for others to watch as well.” whilst delivering a score of 75.
If you’re into scary horror games, in a similar vein to The Quarry, then The Chant sounds like it’s the perfect pick-up for you to add to your collection now.
Demon Throttle - Nintendo Switch
Now take one look at the gameplay screenshots of this game and tell me you’re not already highly intrigued about what’s to come. Demon Throttle has a real nostalgic feel to it, and it has been labeled as the World’s first Nintendo Switch physical-only release! Move over digital world, we’re going old school with this one, and that feeling runs through this title.
Not only does it stay true to this with its 8-bit Graphics, but it also has an old-school 2-player local co-op arcade action. My idea to you, put season one of Strangers Things on the tele-box, slap that faded Atari hoody on, and put the cartridge to Demon Throttle (remember there’s no digital release…) and you’re in for a treat of an evening.
Demon Throttle tells the story of a beautiful vampiress and dusty gunslinger on a quest for vengeance against a demon that stole her mystical chalices and slept with his estranged wife. Now, the two unlikely companions must blast their way through four monstrous generals and their wicked domains to lift the demon's curse and exact their revenge.
Demon Throttle is available now on Nintendo Switch.
Atlas Fallen - PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X
Not to be fooled with the films on Netflix with a similar name about the White House coming under attack, Atlas Fallen has you hunt legendary monsters, using powerful, shape-shifting weapons and devastating sand-powered abilities in spectacular, super-powered combat.
This open-world RPG delight is developed by Deck13 Interactive, and if you’ve been a fan of other open-world hits like Immortals: Fenyx Rising, Horizon Forbidden West and similar titles, then this could be just what you’re looking for next. If you’re also if you’re a big fan of making weapons from obscure materials such as sand, then look no further, “Your weapons are made of sand, you move around quickly by surfing across sand dunes, and each of the various monsters is literally made of sand” from the IGN review that gave it 7/10.
The synopsis for that IGN review states, “Atlas Fallen is a solid open-world action RPG with plenty of platforming and large monsters to fight with a co-op buddy, so long as neither of you cares about story or is a stickler for high-quality textures.”
Atlas Fallen is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and is the perfect combination of a unique fantasy world and a solid fighting engine to give you something to sink plenty of hours into.
