  • Virtual Reality FAQ's

Can I play my current games in VR?

For true VR, where you are inside the game, the game needs to be built from the ground up specifically to support VR or VR support needs to be developed and added to the game.

However, you will be able to play most of your existing non-VR games on a huge virtual screen. Imagine having a cinema screen all to yourself to play your game on! This is what it would be like playing a non-VR game in a VR headset.

What can I do in VR?

Play VR games of course! However, this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to VR applications.

Imagine sitting down and talking to your friends as if they were actually besides you or watching a VR film where you are part of the action! The future possibilities for VR are endless. Think about browsing the isles of your favourite store as if you were actually there, add something to your basket and within the hour it's delivered to your door. Or step into the showroom of a car dealership and design your perfect car, test out different colours and trims and walk around your creation, inspecting every small detail before making the order! These are all real applications in the making!

I wear glasses, can I use VR?

Generally this won't be a problem. Most VR headsets can be adjusted to give extra room for glasses. However you may need to remove your glasses if they are much wider than 14cm.

How much space do I need?

VR games can be played sitting down or standing up so you don't always need a lot of space. However some games will give a better experience if you have more room to move about. The maximum playable space is around 3m for Oculus and Playstation VR and 5m for HTC Vive.

How can I check if my PC is VR ready?

To find out if your computer will work with VR, you can download and run the following VR performance tests.

    HTC Vive

    Oculus Rift

Can I use VR on my Mac?

At the moment, Vive and Oculus Rift are not compatible with Macs.

Can I use my Oculus Rift with SteamVR?

Yes, SteamVR supports the Oculus Rift. To set this up, follow these instructions.

Is the Oculus Rift compatible with the Xbox One?

No, the Rift does not work with the Xbox One or Xbox One S
