SONY's PlayStation Vita exploded onto the scene in early 2012, bringing with it a host of new features that changed handheld gaming forever.
For starters, there's the 5-inch touchscreen - the biggest on any handheld to date, and one that can deliver console-quality graphics. Plus there's another touchpad on the rear, and together these offer unique controls across a wide range of games. In another first, the PS Vita features a second analogue controller, making the standard controls more like that of the PlayStation 3 than the PSP and giving you greater control over a whole host of games. There's also in-built gyroscopic controls, allowing you to move the PS Vita to move within the game.
But that's not all. The PlayStation Vita is very much a handheld for today. There's the option of Wi-Fi or 3G versions, so you can spend as little or as much time online as you like, for both gaming and for the wide range of online and social features, from Facebook and Twitter, to downloading music, to voice and text chat with your friends and more!
There's already a wide range of games available and this will only grow. With graphics and gameplay that's comparable to home consoles, the big name franchises are all making their way to PS Vita, plus there are a wide range of smaller titles and mini-games that make really fun use of the unique controls that the PS Vita has to offer.
Gaming on the go has grown up with the PlayStation Vita.
