Gymkhana 'brings new dimension of fun' to DiRT 3

Gamers who pick up the new racing game DiRT 3 when it launches next year will find that its new gymkhana mode will deliver unique ways for them to enjoy themselves.

WRC racer Ken Block, who is acting as a technical consultant on Codemasters' new Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC game, said the addition "adds a whole new aspect of fun ways to do things with the car".

The gymkhana event allows racers to show off with some freestyle driving, performing incredible stunts and feats of amazing car control.

Players can practice their skills in free sessions before competing in graded high score-based events and challenges, with the game allowing users to post videos of their best runs straight to YouTube.

Block said: "Going through a course and trying to do it for a time or for style points is always fun."

The Colin McRae: DiRT 2 follow-up will launch in the second quarter of 2011 and will feature a comprehensive range of top-line cars, including the videogame debut of the 2011 Ford Fiesta RS WRC.
