Developer Naughty Dog told Joystiq that it is looking to make improvements to the online mode seen in the acclaimed Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, with fan feedback having been a major consideration.
Justin Richmond, the game's director, said the development team only had a year to put the first game's multiplayer together, with numerous tweaks being made to its balance after the title was already released.
He said this process has helped the studio to learn "a lot", adding that Naughty Dog is confident they will be able to "blow it out" with Uncharted 3.
"We're going to really take it to the next level, listen to what the fans said, do all of the things we wanted to do in the last game but didn't have time to," Mr Richmond added.
The game will face a tough task in living up to Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, which was voted as the best PlayStation game of all time by Official PlayStation Magazine readers earlier this year.
