Buyer's Guide: Xbox One

Thinking of getting an Xbox One? Or have you picked one up and looking to get the most out of your console? Then here's our top tips for must-have accessories any gamer will need to make the most of the unprecedented power of the Xbox One.

From headsets to Xbox LIVE and much more, no matter what the occasion, be it multiplayer or single player, GAME is here to give you the best Xbox One gaming experience possible, with our range of accessories and more!

For the complete Xbox One experience, Xbox LIVE is a must.

Giving you access to online multiplayer with your friends, an Xbox LIVE subscription is your passport to the online world of Xbox One. Available as either a 3 month or 12 month subscription, Xbox LIVE will open up the full world of the Xbox One. With more and more games moving towards an immersive multiplayer world, Xbox LIVE will let you take to the world of online gaming.

Away from the multiplayer aspect, there's plenty of benefits to an Xbox LIVE subscription. You'll get access to a whole host of Gold member discounts for a huge range of games on the Xbox Store. As if that wasn't enough you'll also gain access to 2 free games a month. Yes, you read that right, 2 games completely free to Gold members. Every month Microsoft hand pick 2 games for you to download straight to your console. And let's be honest, who doesn't like a good freebie every now and again!

Xbox Controller

Every Xbox One will come with the minimum of one controller, which is great. But what happens when you have a friend round and want to either team up or play against each other?

You'll need another controller. Some of my best gaming moments on the Xbox One have come when I've been playing against my friends on FIFA 16; with plenty of games offering this kind of local multiplayer a second Xbox One controller is a must have.

Luckily, you'll have a wide selection of controllers to choose from. You can go for the original Black style controller, or if you're feeling a bit adventurous we have a range of other controller options. The Special Edition Luna White Controller looks beautiful, or if you're a fan of Star Wars then the Captain Phasma Lead Trooper Controller, available only at GAME (just in time for Star Wars: The Force Awakens!). If Halo is more your thing, then we also have a couple of Halo themed Xbox One controllers to pick from.

Regardless of which one you choose, an extra controller (or two) is a must for all those gaming nights with friends!

Gaming Headsets

So you've grabbed Xbox LIVE, you're right into the thick of online multiplayer. There's only one thing missing, a gaming headset.

Get engaged with your online opponents with a gaming headset, or communicate with your team. A gaming headset is of paramount importance in online games where teamwork is a cornerstone of success. Games like Rainbow Six: Siege requires a highly skilled team communicating throughout the battlefield. Without this, you're at a huge disadvantage. So whether you're taking down opponents, teaming up with fellow gamers, or just have a chat with your friends as you play, a gaming headset immerses you in the gaming experience, to give you a connected experience at all times.

It's not just about communication though, most headsets will immerse you in your favourite games, with the game sound being played straight into the headset. Now you can feel right in the centre of all your favourite games. There's plenty of headset options available. The Xbox One Official Stereo Headset is a great place to start. However, there's a huge number of headset options, such as Turtle Beach, Tritton, Polk and much more. So shop around and pick up your perfect headset!

External Hard Drive

With a huge range of Xbox One games available already, you might find that you'll need an external hard drive.

All Xbox One games have to be installed onto the inbuilt hard drive of your console. Whilst this allows the console to run each game smoothly, giving you the best gaming experience possible, you might find that you'll need more space once you have a few games on there.

Luckily, you can purchase an external hard drive which will connect up to your Xbox One to hold all your extra data that doesn't quite fit on the inbuilt hard drive. With a growing library of Xbox One titles, investing in an external hard drive will give you the freedom to install games to your hearts content so you can jump into some of the best games around without having to worry about the free space you have left.

So there we have it, if you're thinking of getting an Xbox One, or just want to make the most of the one you already have, these accessories should be the first thing on your wish list.
