Madden NFL Football confirmed for 3DS

American football fans are to see the famous Madden NFL Football series make the leap into the third dimension on Nintendo's new handheld console, the 3DS.

EA Sports has revealed that a version of Madden will be its first game for the hotly-anticipated device and will be aiming to launch the game alongside the console when it debuts next year.

The game will bring all of the authentic, feature-packed gameplay for which the series is famous to 3DS, with specially-designed in-game camera systems showing off the console's cutting-edge glasses-free stereoscopic 3D visuals.

Gamers will be able to control the action and create their own plays on the fly using the Touch Screen, while different difficulty settings provide tailored levels of challenge and complexity.

It will also include all 32 of the teams and stadiums from the real NFL in their officially-licensed glory.

Fans will be hoping the game's 3DS debut will live up to the standard of the acclaimed Madden NFL 11, which launched on home consoles in August 2010.
