Gamers worldwide have been eager to get their first taster of the upcoming Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, with the online demo demonstrating record-breaking popularity.
More than two million players have tried out the trial version of the new racing game in the last two weeks, making it the fastest-downloaded demo in the history of the popular franchise.
During that time, users have raced along more than 54 million miles of in-game road, while 20 million cop busts have been executed by those playing as the police.
Meanwhile, the demo's social network features have also proven popular, with around 700,000 posts having been made to the Speed Wall.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is launching later this month and is currently ranked as the highest-rated game in the series, according to review aggregator Metacritic.
As well as the standard version, it will also be released in a special Limited Edition package, which includes six exclusive additional cars.
