Need for Speed Hot Pursuit demo races onto consoles

Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners are to be given a chance to try out the new Need for Speed game for a limited time only, beginning later this week.

On October 26th 2010, EA will launch an online demo of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, which will be available until November 6th and allows gamers to get a first taste of the title's multiplayer racing action.

In the trial version, players can take part in the Dark Horse Hot Pursuit event, which sees them speeding along the coastal highways and mountainous ridges of Seacrest County.

It will show off the new game's chase-based structure, as players take on the role of a police officer and use unique weapons to track down and stop illegal street racers.

Moreover, the demo will also introduce the new Autolog social network feature, which tracks statistics and makes it easier for users to compete against each other.

Matt Webster, producer at developer Criterion Games, said: "Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is blowing the roof off social competition and bringing excitement back to the racing genre."
