MGS, PES and Contra coming to 3DS

Konami has confirmed that some of its most famous franchises will be getting 3D-enabled outings when the Nintendo 3DS launches in Europe next year.

New versions of Metal Gear Solid, Pro Evolution Soccer, Contra and Frogger will be among the first few Konami titles to appear on the high-tech handheld, which displays stereoscopic 3D visuals without the need for special glasses.

The 3DS version of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater has already been showcased at industry events such as E3 and the Tokyo Game Show, wowing attendees with its home console-quality visuals.

It is a remake of the Cold War-set PlayStation 2 classic of the same name, enhanced by eye-popping 3D effects and setpieces.

Football fans will be happy to see an all-new version of PES on the way for the system, while fresh instalments of Contra and Frogger will appeal to lovers of the arcade originals.

Konami's Kunio Neo said: "We cannot wait to share more news in the coming months."
