BioWare has revealed that its acclaimed sci-fi epic Mass Effect 2 is to be extended with a new downloadable chapter next month.
The Lair of the Shadow Broker will be released on Xbox 360 and PC in September 2010 and sees Commander Shepard and his crew hot on the trail of a mysterious underworld information broker.
Teaming up with alien ally Dr Liara T'Soni, players will be able to access new upgrades and achievements as they battle shady agents in the futuristic city of Ilium.
The new content is one of a number of downloadable expansions released for Mass Effect 2, with BioWare having regularly added new story content, characters, weapons and missions since the game's debut earlier this year.
Mass Effect 2 became one of the most best-reviewed games of the year following its launch, allowing players to explore a vast galaxy filled with interesting alien characters.
The game will soon be reaching a new audience with a PlayStation 3 edition, which will include hours of bonus content to welcome newcomers to the Mass Effect world.
