Blockbusting Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has become the best-selling game ever to be released in the UK.
The acclaimed FPS from developer Infinity Ward has swept aside its competition in the 41 weeks since its record-breaking November 2009 launch and can now claim the title of Britain's most popular game of all time, according to GfK-ChartTrack data.
When it made its debut last year, it shattered various commercial benchmarks to become the biggest launch of any entertainment product ever, outgrossing hit films such as Avatar and The Dark Knight.
Since then, it has been a fixture in the higher echelons of the UK charts, spending only three weeks outside the top ten in the entire time it has been on sale.
Meanwhile, the launch of the game's downloadable Stimulus Package and Resurgence Package map assortments have also been met with record-setting success.
Fans of the franchise are currently looking forward to the eagerly-anticipated launch of the follow-up Call of Duty: Black Ops, which debuts in November this year.
