Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection features “subtle” gameplay ...

When the first three Uncharted games come to PlayStation 4 in October, as the remastered Nathan Drake Collection, there will be some changes to the gameplay. Fans shouldn’t panic. This isn’t George Lucas style tinkering, but rather a way of ensuring that the games play consistently across the trilogy.

In other words, gameplay refinements and improvements that Naughty Dog had made to the series by the time Uncharted 3 came out will be retroactively applied to the first two games. The frame rate and resolution are also beefed up, obviously, while all the character models and environments are being remade to suit their new PS4 home.

Naughty Dog isn’t handling the conversion – they’re rather busy working on Uncharted 4, after all – but the project is in safe hands. Bluepoint Games has been given the task of porting the game, and the studio specialises in such upgrade compilations, having previously worked on the God of War Collection, the Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. It’s also the same studio that handled the impressive Xbox 360 version of Titanfall.

If you’re still not sure, Sony has announced that a playable demo of the Uncharted compilation will be released over the summer. No word yet if it will include segments from all three games, but it will at least let you study Nathan Drake’s makeover in the comfort of your home.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is out on 8 October for PlayStation 4.
