GAME reports huge 2007 sales growth

GAME has reported a massive 86 per cent sales growth for the year ending January 31st, 2008.

Like-for-like sales increased by 41.2 per cent, and profits before tax were £75.5 million, an increase of 156 per cent compared to the year before. GAME's online and overseas businesses performed well.

Peter Lewis, GAME's chairman, said: "This is a record set of results and clearly demonstrates that we've taken the right steps to expand the scale and geographic reach of our specialist offer to benefit from the broadening appeal of PC and video games products.

"This performance marks a transitional year with a significant improvement in a number of core business operations, further enhanced by the acquisition of Gamestation in the UK. In addition we more than doubled international operating profits and increased eCommerce operating profits by over 60 per cent, both of which continue to be a focus for growth."

Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto IV has gone on sale in the UK today (April 29th), which is likely to boost sales at GAME significantly.
