The Sims franchise sells over 100m copies

The Sims video game franchise has now sold more than 100 million units around the world, Gamedaily reports.

The game was first launched in 2000 and has become the best-selling PC game franchise of all time, being sold in 22 languages and in 60 countries around the world.

Rod Humble, of Sims publisher Electronic Arts, said: "At this milestone, we want to thank players of The Sims everywhere for making The Sims such a worldwide phenomenon.

"The Sims has been an interactive experience for people around the globe to explore their passion for creativity and we're thrilled to be a part of that. From building houses and relationships, from the first kiss to a toddler's first step, from kitchen fires – and even visits from ghosts, players have told more than 100 million unique and fun stories!"

Nancy Smith, president of The Sims Label, added that the franchise is unique because it attracts gamers of all ages and both genders.

The newest Sims title is the The Sims 2: Kitchen and Bath Interior Design Stuff expansion pack, which gives players the chance to fulfil their wildest interior designer fantasies.
