Top games developer BioWare has claimed that gaming enthusiasts will be "blown away" by the next instalment of the Mass Effect series.
Senior manager at the firm Matt Atwood said that the Xbox 360 game is impressive both in storyline and characters, and that players are set to meet some new faces.
Speaking about Mass Effect 2 to Videogamer.com, Mr Atwood said: "I think that people are going to be blown away.
"The teams are just so brilliant and the story writing is so good that straight out from the beginning of Mass Effect 2, people are going to be in awe."
He added that the story – which will be followed by yet another instalment to complete the Mass Effect trilogy – will be continuous.
"The story was always written as an arc, so they are meant to stand alone as great games to play individually, but even better if you play them all, because you get the entire experience, and there are quite a few twists - there'll be quite a few things that people will not expect."
