The world-famous plumber's latest intergalactic adventure finally arrives on European shores this week and once again sees our hero tasked with rescuing the princess from the evil Bowser.
Players can expect to travel through a wide variety of different worlds and galaxies as they tackle imaginative gravity-defying puzzles and jumping challenges, sometimes with the added assistance of faithful dinosaur friend Yoshi.
All new to the game are a host of Mario abilities, including Rock Mario and Cloud Mario, while Yoshi can also gain new powers by gobbling up foodstuff such as the Dash Pepper and Blimp Fruit.
Other features include the return of Co-Star mode, which allows a second gamer to play as a Luma to help Mario, as well as guide options to assist novices with tricky sections.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 arrives in stores having received some of the best reviews ever seen for a videogame, with an average score of 98 on aggregator website Metacritic.
