Mass Effect 2 holds the line in second week atop charts

BioWare's spectacular sci-fi sequel Mass Effect 2 has held steady to top the all-formats gaming chart for a second week in succession.

The Xbox 360 and PC title, which debuted in first place last week, was able to see off the challenge of Ubisoft's Wii music game Just Dance for another week.

More than two million copies of the critically-acclaimed sequel have already been sold to eager gamers across the world, while the title has also received more than 40 perfect review scores from various publications.

As with the first instalment, the game follows the adventures of Commander Shepard and his crew of alien allies on a spacefaring mission to uncharted worlds.

Meanwhile, EA's Dante's Inferno also made a splash this week, with the hellraising action game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 arriving in fourth place.

Next week's chart is likely to be dominated by the arrival of BioShock 2, the eagerly-awaited Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC shooter from 2K Games.
