Mass Effect 2 to be released on two discs

Developer BioWare has revealed that its forthcoming sci-fi sequel Mass Effect 2 will be released on two discs.

BioWare's Chris Priestly revealed details of the game via the gamemaker's official message board, stating that this will apply to both the Xbox 360 and PC versions.

PC owners will be able to install the game on their system, while Xbox 360 owners will be prompted to change discs once during the game at a pre-designated, planned juncture.

Owners of the Collector's Edition, meanwhile, will also receive a third disc containing bonus material and making-of documentaries.

Mr Priestly added that the reason why the game uses two discs is because "you cannot fit this much awesome on one disc".

The new entry in the epic space trilogy will see the heroic Commander Shepard embark on a dangerous mission into a treacherous part of the galaxy, accompanied by allies both old and new.

It is to be launched in the UK next month.
