Mass Effect 2 'to feature improved psychic combat'

Developer BioWare has revealed new gameplay details for its upcoming Mass Effect 2, confirming that the game's psychic warfare has been upgraded considerably.

Players who choose the powers of an Adept at the beginning of the new game will find their arsenal of biotic abilities have become more powerful and versatile than ever.

For example, gamers will be able to direct their powers around corners or send mental blasts at precise angles to send foes careering off precipices.

The gamemaker also revealed that a familiar face will be returning from the original Mass Effect in the form of Tali, the Quarian technology expert.

She will once again be joining the heroic Commander Shepard's in-game party, lending her expertise with electrical devices to assist gamers in their latest interstellar quest.

The eagerly-awaited sci-fi sequel will be released in January for Xbox 360 and PC, with those who pre-order the game set to receive exclusive bonus items.
