New Super Mario Bros 'will be fun for everyone'

Nintendo has promised that its multiplayer platform title New Super Mario Bros Wii will bring a smile to the face of everyone who plays it, no matter their level of experience.

The gamemaker's American president Reggie Fils-Aime told Kotaku that there is "nothing like" playing the hectic 2D title with three friends, enjoying the game's mix of cooperation and competition.

This is the first traditional sidescrolling Mario adventure to offer simultaneous multiplayer options, with Mr Fils-Aime stating that this addition will be enough to interest veteran gamers and newbies alike.

He said: "You're picking each other up and throwing each other into the lava pits and the crevasse. This game is the most fun."

Nintendo has also previously revealed that the game will feature an option called Super Guide, allowing novice players to watch a computer-controlled character play through difficult sections for them.

The title is released for Wii this week.
