New Super Mario Bros Wii 'will be accessible for all'

Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has promised players that the forthcoming New Super Mario Bros Wii will offer a fun experience no matter how skilled they are at games.

The games industry legend told PopularMechanics that the concept behind the new game, as well as its DS predecessor New Super Mario Bros, is to provide gameplay that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

This is to be even more of a focus in the multiplayer-compatible Wii version, which is intended to allow hardcore and casual gamers to play and compete together side-by-side.

Mr Miyamoto stated that one way this will be made possible is by allowing players to pick up their teammates and carry them through more challenging parts of the game.

He said: "We wanted it to be something that people who had never played a game before could enjoy … [but also] something that more avid and more active gamers could also pick up."

Earlier this month, Nintendo revealed to Kotaku that the title will also feature a helper mode which allows novices to have a computer-controlled character play parts of the game for them.
