Halo 3: ODST soundtrack CD coming to stores

Fans of the blockbuster Halo series will be pleased to hear that a soundtrack album for the forthcoming Xbox 360 game Halo 3: ODST is to hit stores and iTunes.

Music label Sumthing Else is teaming with Microsoft Game Studios to bring the latest musical chapter in the series to avid fans, with the score once again provided by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori.

The composers, whose themes have helped to define the series since it launched in 2001, will be providing a musical experience to match the new innovations of the upcoming shooter, which will be a prequel to Halo 3.

Gamers playing the title will see the famous Halo universe from an all-new perspective as they go into battle as an ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper), with O'Donnell promising similarly fresh music.

He said: "I'm happy to be able to share all new compositions and recordings created for Halo 3: ODST. The music reflects the new mood, new heroes, and new story of the game."

It will be hoped that Halo 3: ODST can live up to the high standards set by the original Halo 3, which scooped maximum scores in reviews from the likes of Edge Magazine and Eurogamer.
