Colin McRae: DiRT 2 to feature tribute to late driver

Developer Codemasters has revealed that its new racing title Colin McRae: DiRT 2 includes a tribute to the late rally driver after whom the series is named.

The Scottish racer was tragically killed in a helicopter crash two years ago, but the game maker has honoured his memory in its own way with a number of in-game features and events.

Players will be able to participate in the Colin McRae Challenge, which will see players take to the track in McRae's famous Escort Mk II against a number of real-life racers with close links to the driver, including his father Jimmy McRae.

Those who complete the challenge will unlock an exclusively produced tribute video which showcases some of the best moments of McRae's illustrious racing career.

Matt Horsman, the new game's chief designer, said: "Colin is hugely missed by all at Codemasters [and] we're proud that this game will carry his name."

The title is available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS and PSP, with a PC version to follow later.
