Disney Interactive Studios has announced plans to develop the videogame, which will be due out in November this year.
The title, which will be set in New Orleans just like the film, will feature some 30 mini games and will see the lead character Tiana embark on her adventures.
Gamers will be able to participate in fully interactive activities such as moving and playing to music, as well as cooking authentic New Orleans food and collecting Mardi Gras beads.
"[Players will] meet favourite characters from the film and new friends, triumph over enemies, play frog games in the bayou, create music, cook New Orleans style and so much more," a Disney spokesperson commented.
Other Disney games to have been released on Nintendo consoles have included 2007's Disney Friends.
