New Star Wars Battlefront game has multi-front battles

The next instalment of the Star Wars Battlefront series will allow players to take on the forces of evil in multi-front wars.

Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron, which is scheduled for an autumn release for PSP and Nintendo DS, will see players take on the role of X2, a clone trooper who has joined the Rebellion.

The expanded gameplay of Elite Squadron will enable players to control X2 in ground combat, vehicles and, of course, in space and on starships.

Although there is only one playable character in solo mode, gamers will be able to make him their own thanks to a vast array of customisation options, including weapon choice, appearance and individual skills.

In multiplayer mode, which can include up to 16 gamers on the PSP and four on the DS, Star Wars fans will be able to play as the best-loved characters from the movie franchise, including Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

Elite Squadron is the third Star Wars Battlefront game for the PSP, following Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron and Star Wars Battlefront II, but the first for the DS.
