We might yet see Han Solo and Spider-Man teaming up, according to Tai Yasue, designer on Square Enix's upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3.
The Kingdom Hearts series, first launched in 2002, started by mashing up Disney characters with Square's Final Fantasy universe. Over numerous sequels and spin-offs, that concept has expanded to include not only Disney's animated properties, but also live action brands like Tron.
Now, of course, Disney also owns both Star Wars and Marvel. The latter was the focus of Disney Infinity 2.0, but will we see these characters turning up in Kingdom Hearts 3? Quite possibly.
I cant go into specifics, Tai Yasue has told Kotaku, but theres a lot of new Disney stuff and we have our plates full. Theres a lot to consider were looking at all of Disney, the new ones as well, they have a lot of pull and draw. Theyre all under consideration. Nothings off-limits, were considering all of the worlds. There are so many wonderful concepts. Were happy about that, but at the same time its really tough to choose.
It seems a bit of a no-brainer, given that Marvel is currently the biggest cinema franchise in the world, and Star Wars is back on the ascendant with a slate of new movies due to begin next year.
Kingdom Hearts 3 was confirmed as being in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at E3 in 2013, but very little has been revealed about the game itself.
