Telltale's Game of Thrones adventure has multiple playable characters

Details of Telltale's upcoming episodic adventure based on Game of Thrones are starting to appear, with the revelation that the game will feature more than one playable character. It's a technique that will also be used in the developer's Tales from the Borderlands series.

“We always will evolve our story telling toolkit from game to game based on the needs of each franchise and the creative decisions we’ve made,” Steve Allison, Telltale's vice president, told the International Business Times. “Tales from the Borderlands adds multi-protagonist storytelling for us layered into the tailored narrative design established with The Walking Dead and it works amazingly well with two playable characters.”

Anyone who has read George R.R. Martin's books or thrilled to the HBO TV show will immediately understand how more characters will enable the game to really capture the intrigue and betrayals of Westeros, and Allison went on to reveal that not only will Game of Thrones feature five characters, but they'll all be related.

“In Game of Thrones we’re taking that multi-protagonist design even further with five playable characters from the same family whose choices affect everyone in the family,” he said, “and that adds a whole new layer to things that we’re really excited about.”

Telltale has confirmed that both Tales of the Borderlands and Game of Thrones will launch before the end of the year.
