EA dates Battlefield Hardline

GTA V for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC at GAME

EA has delivered a huge dollop of interesting news, wrapped up in its annual financial report. Slice through the figures and statistics, and the big news is that the delayed cops and robbers shooter Battlefield: Hardline now has its new release date.

The game was due this year, but was put back to give developer Visceral Games more time to implement feedback from the multiple beta trials that ran earlier this year. Battlefield: Hardline will now launch in Europe on 20th March 2015 for PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

Also contained in the business babble were a couple of other notable release windows. Multiplayer epic Star Wars Battlefront will launch in the “Holiday period” of 2015, which hints at a pre-Christmas release. Star Wars Episode VII hits cinemas on 18 December, so that would make a lot of sense. The DICE-developed game will also be first-person, a change from the third-person shooter traditions of the series.

Speaking of DICE, EA also confirmed that we won't see another entry in the Swedish studio's Battlefield series until the end of 2016. “This allows us to have a major first-person shooter title each year,” said EA's chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen.
