Outlast 2 coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One

Outlast for Xbox One at GAME.co.uk

Spooky scare-em-up Outlast is getting a sequel, developer Red Barrels has confirmed.

"We took some time to analyse our situation and we quickly realized we had at least another horror game in us," studio co-founder Phillipe Morin told horror website Bloody Disgusting. "So, yes, we are working on Outlast 2."

The sequel will take place in the same world as the first game, but will be set in a different location with new characters. "We might go back to Mount Massive Asylum one day," says Morin, "but for now we have new ideas and themes we’d like to explore and we think we’re cooking up something special."

He also explained why they'll be keeping the new game under wraps. "Part of the fun of playing a horror game is the sense of discovery and progressively understanding ‘wtf’ is going on," he said. "So, I’d rather not say too much at this point."

The original game, in which you explored a derelict asylum, offered no combat options and had you armed only with a camera. It came out on PC in 2013, then came to PlayStation 4 and most recently Xbox One. The sequel, however, will release on all three formats at the same time.
