Bloodborne arrives in early February

Bloodborne Release Date

Sony has announced a definite release date for From Software's grim and demanding horror action game, Bloodborne. The PlayStation 4 exclusive will launch in Europe – and the USA – on 6 February. That's only the day after it is released in Japan.

From the same company that brought us the punishing Dark Souls, Bloodborne is supeficially similar: it's a third-person action adventure with RPG elements and an emphasis on melee fighting. One of the key differences, apart from the gloomy steampunk setting, is an ingenious health system that lets you win back lost health by landing hits on your enemy immediately after taking damage.

The idea is to move away from the block-and-roll cautious combat that Dark Souls specialised in, and force players to be more bold and aggressive in their playing style. According to Sony's own blog, the game will offer a “unique blend of gothic horror, terrifying enemy design, fast-paced offensive combat, brutal transforming weapons, RPG progression and unique online features.”

The publisher is also teasing numerous pre-order bonuses and special editions to be announced in the near future.

Bloodborne is out for PlayStation 4 on 6 February 2015.
