Mortal Kombat X gets a release date

Mortal Kombat X Release Date

Gory brawler Mortal Kombat X has received an official UK release date, publisher Warner Bros has confirmed. You'll be able to start dismembering foes and punching faces into jam on 14 April 2015. That's the worldwide release date, so it comes out on a Tuesday. Don't forget.

Developer NetherRealm is adapting some of the features it introduced in DC Comics fighting game Injustice, including the ability to use scenery and environmental details in each stage to set your opponent up for devastating attacks.

Each fighter will also have three different variant versions, each with a slightly different fighting style. Scorpion, for example, can dual wield swords in his Ninjutsu version, in which he wields dual swords, deliver burning special moves in his Hellfire variation, or choose the Inferno style and summon hellspawn minions.

As an extra enticement, Warner Bros has also announced that everyone who pre-orders the game will get iconic four-armed fighter Goro as a playable exclusive. It's the first time he's been playable in eight years, which is kind of a big deal. He also looks cool.

Once again for your calendar: Mortal Kombat X is out on 14 April 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
