Rise of the Tomb Raider is an Xbox One exclusive

Microsoft gave its latest press event at Gamescom in Germany, and delivered a pretty major mic drop moment: upcoming Lara Croft sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider, will be exclusive to Xbox One. It'll be out around Christmas 2015 – which would most likely put it in direct competition with Sony's Uncharted 4 in a battle of the blockbuster swashbucklers.

"Today's announcement with Microsoft is one step to help us put Tomb Raider on top of action adventure gaming," said a post on the blog of developer Crystal Dynamics shortly afterwards. "Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011. We believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft."

That was the biggest announcement that Microsoft made, but there were plenty of other nuggets to get excited about. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be getting a unique Xbox One bundle, which will feature a two-tone console with 1Tb hard drive and no Kinect sensor. If that doesn't appeal, the Sunset Overdrive console bundle was also confirmed, with the white Xbox One.

Two major beta trials also got dated. You'll be able to give Fable Legends a test drive from October 16th while the generous Halo 5 Guardians beta, offering seven maps to play with, will kick off on December 29th. That's New Year's Eve sorted then.
