Shadow Warrior slicing its way to consoles

Shadow Warrior coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Over-the-top retro shooty-slasher Shadow Warrior is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, publishers Namco Bandai and Devolver Digital have confirmed.

The game is an updated remake of the 1997 PC game, created by the makers of Duke Nukem 3D. You play as Lo Wang, bodyguard to the powerful businessman Master Zilla. When you discover that he plans to conquer Japan using demonic creatures, you turn against your boss and try to bring him down. The game was famous for its bloody mix of gunplay and sword combat, as well as its tongue in cheek humour.

The remake came out for PC last year, but in moving to the new generation of consoles it will gain some additional goodies. The graphics have been improved even more, and there's an exclusive Arena mode where you can battle waves of enemies in three environments. There will also be bonus weapons inspired by other games, including Serious Sam 3's sledgehammer and the katana sword from Hotline Miami.

Shadow Warrior will hit the shelves for release on September 26th.
