Quantum Break unaffected by Xbox TV changes

Quantum Break

Microsoft has announced that it is to shut down its Entertainment Studios division, which was responsible for creating original TV content for Xbox Live. However, the company has specifically explained that this will not impact Quantum Break, the ambitious game and TV show transmedia project being developed by Alan Wake and Max Payne studio Remedy.

The Xbox One exclusive "will be released next year and the game and show both remain on track," said the statement, shared with Polygon by Microsoft. "The news of Xbox Entertainment Studios has not impacted our progress and we're excited to share more details of Quantum Break at Gamescom in August."

Quantum Break combines a third-person sci fi action game with a full season of an exclusive related TV show. As the video content is saved to the same console hard drive as the game, the Xbox One can allow your actions in the game to alter the live action storyline by choosing which versions of scenes you get to see.

Despite the announcement that Xbox Entertainment Studios is to close, the TV projects already announced will be completed and released - including the Halo show produced by Steven Spielberg.
