Alien: Isolation gets bonus missions based on 1979 movie

Sega's upcoming Alien: Isolation was already a fairly unique prospect, purely because it takes its inspiration from Ridley Scott's classic 1979 sci-fi horror movie rather than the more gamer friendly 1986 James Cameron action movie sequel. Now, developer Creative Assembly is making that connection even more explicit.

The Ripley Edition of the game will get you access to two bonus missions, each recreating the terrifying original movie. Not only that, but the original movie cast is also on board to reprise their iconic roles, including Oscar-winning star Sigourney Weaver as Ripley – the first time she's played the character since 1997's poorly received movie, Alien Resurrection.

The first bonus mission, Crew Expendable, will let you play as Dallas (voiced by Tom Skerrit), Parker (voiced by Yaphet Kotto) or Ripley (voiced by Weaver) as you try to hunt down the xenomorph aboard the Nostromo. The second bonus mission is called Last Survivor, and recreates the finale of Alien, as Ripley, the sole surviving crew member, battles to reach the escape pod. Actors Veronica Cartwright (Lambert) and Harry Dean Stanton (Brett) will also return.

"Working with the original cast has been an incredible experience," said creative lead Alistair Hope. "It was important to us to have the key original cast members reprise their roles in order to perfectly capture the atmosphere of the movie. For some of the original cast, this is their first appearance in an Alien video game. Seeing them reprise those roles after 35 years was an unforgettable experience."

In Isolation you'll play as Ripley's daughter, who sets off into space in search of her mother. She finds herself trapped on board the space station Sebastapol with a solitary Alien which will roam the station at will, stalking the player using simulated senses rather than scripted scares.

Alien: Isolation is out for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on October 7th.
