Far Cry 4 confirmed for November

Farcry 4 Announced

Ubisoft has confirmed Far Cry 4 will be released this year, on November 21st to be precise, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

As with the previous games in the series, it seems there will be no connection between Far Cry 4 and its predecessors beyond its openworld gameplay mechanics. This time, rather than a tropical island, you'll be adventuring through the mountains of Kyrat, a "breathtaking, perilous and wild region of the Himalayas struggling under the regime of a despotic self-appointed king".

There are, you'll be excited to learn, rideable elephants.

"Following the success of Far Cry 3, we wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise players and exceed fans' expectations," executive producer Dan Hay said. "Given the unique setting, we feel Far Cry 4 will stand out as a top first-person shooter and we're eager to reveal more about the game in the coming months."

What has been revealed is that you can already pre-order the game, and doing so earns you an upgrade to the Limited Edition of the game. This comes with three bonus missions in which you rescue Far Cry 3 comedy side character Hurk, and a rather cool looking harpoon weapon.

Expect more details in June when the press will no doubt be allowed to play Far Cry 4 at E3.
