It's been on the production line for longer than anyone expected but Driveclub, Sony's sleek and shiny racer, finally has a date when it will roll into action. The PlayStation 4 exclusive will launch on October 10th.
The announcement was made in a blog post by Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios, which should give you an idea of how seriously Sony is taking this one. Yoshida describes the game as a truly next gen racing title and explains how developer Evolution, best known for Motorstorm, has been pushing the boundaries of the racing genre.
We planned for the game to be ready for early 2014 and are committed to delivering on our ambitious promise of creating a truly innovative, socially connected racing game, read Yoshida's post, which also included a stunning new trailer for the game. The problem with being ambitious is you have to be prepared to accept there will be challenges along the way. What Driveclub offers has not been previously achieved in this category and because of this, the team needed more time to give you the game youre waiting for.
We are really proud of the incredible work the team has produced, he continued. Their tenacity and passionate pursuit of excellence is admirable and Driveclub will be all the better for it.
Once again, Driveclub will be out for PlayStation 4 on October 10th. That puts it on the starting grid against Lord of the Rings openworld adventure Shadow of Mordor and epic RPG Dragon Age: Inquisition, both of which launch that same week.
