Dragon Age will begin the Inquisition in October

After years of teasing glimpses through the Fade, Bioware's epic fantasy RPG, Dragon Age: Inquisition, finally has a UK release date: October 10th.

The game picks up in the aftermath of Dragon Age II, as civil war between rogue mages and the religious Chancery threatens to tear the world apart. That's when the Rift appears in the sky, a rip in the fabric of the universe, through which demons and monsters begin to pour. Your character emerges from the chaotic magical realm of the Fade, and assumes the leadership of the Inquisition - an organisation tasked with restoring order.

Although this is the third game in the main Dragon Age series, unlike Bioware's previous game, Mass Effect 3, don't come looking to Inquisition to round off a trilogy. "Dragon Age was never intended to be a trilogy," executive producer Mark Darrah has told Gamespot. "We've always really looked at Dragon Age as the story of a world as opposed to the story of a character. That's one of the reasons why we change characters between games. This isn't the wrap-up of a trilogy. We have an overarching story arc. We are going somewhere with the storytelling. But this game isn't a conclusion."

Dragon Age: Inquisition has been developed in DICE's Frostbite 3 engine, and will mark the saga's debut on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will also be available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC when it launches on October 10th.
