Uncharted writer working on new Star Wars game

Amy Hennig, the former writer and creative director of Sony's Uncharted series, has taken up a new job at Visceral Games, where she'll be heading up the studio's top secret Star Wars title.

"There are a lot of different directions we could have gone, but I could sense that what really excited her about this opportunity was Star Wars," said Visceral vice president Steve Papoutsis, who previously worked with Hennig at Crystal Dynamics.

"As both a colleague and friend, I've always admired her approach to creative development - focusing on nailing down the soul of a game first, and then making sure the writing, the gameplay, the design and the art comes together to form a unified, interactive experience for the player," Papoutsis continued. "This fits in perfectly with what we're trying to do here at Visceral and Amy's going to help us continue in our pursuit to make the most thrilling, immersive games in the world."

EA won the rights to develop Star Wars games after Disney bought the franchise from George Lucas and closed down the Lucasarts games development studio. DICE has confirmed it is working on a next generation version of Star Wars multiplayer shooter Battlefront, but Visceral's title has yet to be revealed. Current job listings on the studio's website describe the game as "a third-person action/adventure Star Wars title".
