Watch Dogs gets release date, exclusive PlayStation content

Ubisoft's ambitious openworld hacker adventure Watch Dogs has a final release date. The game will be out on May 27th, the publisher announced at the end of the game's latest trailer. That's the date for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The Wii U version will follow later.

The game was originally planned for release last November, but was delayed at the last minute. Eurogamer visited the Montreal studio this week and found that while the development team felt the game was "pretty good and fun to play" it was missing "important details." With another five months of development under its belt, the game now fully delivers on the "hack everything" promise that players expect. "We are extremely confident that the additional time we afforded the dev team to refine and polish the game will be more than worth the wait," said Ubisoft marketing man Geoffroy Sardin.

The publisher has also announced that the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions will come with free DLC adding an extra 60 minutes to the game. This is nothing new for Ubisoft - all the Assassin's Creed games have had bonus content for SONY's consoles.

"It's a unique and visionary game and we believe that the exclusive content available via PSN will not only excite gamers, but showcase how PlayStation is a preferred destination for Watch Dogs," reckons SONY America's Michael Pattison.
