Batfans hoping for another chance to slip into the cape and cowl will get their wishes granted in April. That's when Warner Bros is releasing the first single player story expansion for Batman: Arkham Origins.
It's called Cold, Cold Heart and details the first encounter between the caped crusader and Mr. Freeze. The add-on is described as "extensive" and introduces an explorable Wayne Manor to the game, the first time we've been able to poke around Bruce's family pile in the Arkham series. There will also be some new toys to play with, in keeping with the frosty foe. Batman will be able to add an extreme environment suit, thermal gloves and thermocharged Batarangs to his arsenal.
Interestingly, last year the game's senior producer Ben Mattes told Eurogamer: "It is in line with our angle of the origins - not necessarily of characters, but of key relationships. It is a DLC that will focus on one of the most key relationships in Batman canon."
Few would describe Mr Freeze as a "key relationship" in Batman's life, leading to speculation that this storyline may see the story debut of Robin - who is playable in the game's challenge maps but doesn't appear in the main plot.
April 22nd is when the DLC will arrive for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Also arriving in April will be a downloadable HD console version of the Vita and 3DS handheld spin-off, Arkham Origins: Blackgate. That will launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC on April 2nd.
