LEGO Hobbit game dated and detailed

The LEGO Movie Videogame is topping the charts, but Warner Bros isn't resting on its blocky plastic laurels. It's confirmed the release date for the next LEGO game.

It's LEGO: The Hobbit, of course, and it'll be out on April 11th. As with the previous LEGO games, no gaming platform will be left out. You'll be able to pick it up for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, 3DS, PC and Mac. Phew.

The game will incorporate the action from the first two movies in Peter Jackson's movie trilogy, An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug. You'll be able to play as all of Bilbo's dwarven companions, but each will have their own abilities and will be able to combine their efforts for special combo attacks.

Also new in this game will be a crafting system based around gathering wood, stone and gems. The instruction booklet mini-games from The LEGO Movie will also return. These allow you to build more elaborate models by quickly finding missing pieces against the clock.

There's no word on what will happen to the third film in the trilogy. Will this be given a game all of its own, or be released as bonus content for this game in December when the movie opens?
