Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition update will bring lots of cool stuff

4J Studios, the Scottish developer that handles the console edition of Mojang's world conquering PC smash Minecraft, has revealed some of the features that will be added to the Xbox 360 version in the upcoming Update 14.

Trading is the headline feature, which will allow players to mine new emerald blocks and swap the gems with those big-nosed NPC villagers for new items. Also new will be the anvil, which will finally allow you to repair items rather than using them until they wear out and vanish. You'll also be able to use the anvil to combine enchantments.

Ender Chests will be included too. These magical storage units allow you to access the items within from multiple locations - perfect for long-term players who have filled their maps with numerous homes and strongholds but don't want to trek across the world to retrieve objects.

And that's not all. Nether quartz opens up new crafting options, and you'll also be able to create tripwires. Plus carpets! Yes, you can finally add that touch of luxury to your Minecraft house, and then put your lumpy square feet up and enjoy the new food types: potatoes, carrots and pumpkin pie.

All these features will be added to the Xbox 360 version soon, and will eventually pop up in the PlayStation 3 edition as well. Minecraft is also in development for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
