Rambo takes aim at February release date

He'll give you a war you won't believe, or at least that's the hope of Rambo fans anticipating the beefy hero's long-awaited return to video games.

The self-explanatory Rambo: The Video Game reinvents the original cinematic trilogy as a gory shooter, going from the smalltown showdown of First Blood all the way up to the Afghanistan-set Moscow-bashing Rambo III. It's not yet entirely clear how the game will turn First Blood into an action shooter, given that only one person dies in the movie, and that's sort of an accident. You will definitely get to shoot the famous exploding arrows from the second movie, however.

What we do know for sure is that the action will certainly sound authentic, as the game will be using actual movie samples and dialogue, including Stallone's inimitable line readings, as well as some of the iconic theme music. The late, great Richard Crenna's voice will also be used for Rambo's BFF, Colonel Trautman.

Rambo: The Video Game now has a confirmed release date of February 21st. It's due on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
