COD Ghosts: Onslaught lets you play as Michael Myers

Activision has released details of Onslaught, the first map pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts, and it includes a real treat for horror fans.

Onslaught adds four new maps, the first chapter in an episodic Extinction adventure and a new weapon. Nightfall is the new addition to Extinction mode, the first of four episodes which will combine to tell a new alien invasion story featuring a different extra-terrestrial species and fresh locations.

For use in the main multiplayer modes, you'll also get the Maverick, a versatile bit of kit that can be customised to work as either an assault rifle or a sniper rifle depending on your preference.

It's all about the maps, of course, and there's an extra special treat in store on new map, Fog. Set in an eerie forest, there's an abandoned cabin, a campsite and secret torture chamber. In keeping with the ominous location, on this map you'll be able to play as Michael Myers, the iconic slasher from the Halloween movies. John Carpenter's terrifying musical score is also included, for maximum creepiness.

This isn't the first time Call of Duty has dipped a toe in horror movie waters, of course. The original Black Ops offered Call of the Dead as a Zombies DLC expansion, starring genre icons Danny Trejo, Robert Englund, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Michael Rooker as themselves.

Containment, BayView and Ignition are the other three maps, and the whole bundle will be available for Xbox One and Xbox 360 from January 28th, with PlayStation getting the content later. If you've got the Season Pass, you'll get this - and all the subsequent map packs - automatically, and save a bit of dosh, too.
