It's always a bit of an event when Rockstar expands its games. Not for them the single bonus mission. No, this is a developer that has beefed up its titles with generous and substantial downloadable content such as The Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and the Damned.
So it's no surprise to learn that the already stuffed world of GTA V's Los Santos is going to be getting even more content next year. Rockstar confirmed that single player DLC for the game is on the way, but interestingly suggests that rather than telling spin-off stories, as with previous GTA expansions, this time we may see the main characters staying in the spotlight.
"For those ready to jump back into the story of Grand Theft Auto V," reads the announcement, "we have big plans for substantial additions in 2014 continuing Michael, Franklin and Trevor's action, mayhem and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas."
The news coincides with the latest free update to GTA Online, the game's multiplayer element. A beta trial of the first content creation tools will be available from December 10th, allowing players to design their own deathmatches and races, and share them with the community. The tools available are some of those used to create the game itself, and Rockstar plans to highlight the best user-generated content with a Rockstar Verified Job tag.
Grand Theft Auto V is, of course, out now for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
