As with previous titles in the series, Ubisoft's pirate themed Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will be well served with downloadable content and, as always, you'll be able to save a good chunk of dosh by picking up the season pass when the game launches.
DLC is planned for release up to March next year, and includes a major single player expansion called Freedom City. This nine-mission arc casts you as Adewale, the first mate of hero Edward Kenway, in a tale of shipwreck, slavery and revolution.
According to Ubisoft the season pass will also include "additional single player missions, weapons, skins, and collectibles" as well as "new characters for an even more expansive multiplayer experience."
Season pass holders will also get exclusive access to the Kraken Ship Pack, which includes unique customisation options for Kenway's ship, the Jackdaw.
This is all on top of the bonus single player content that PlayStation owners will get to enjoy. That features Aveline de Grandpré, star of PS Vita spin-off Assassin's Creed: Liberation, in a mission arc that adds another hour of play to the core game.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is out on November 1st for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The Wii U, PC and Xbox One editions follow on November 22nd, with the PlayStation 4 version following on November 29th.
