Fable Legends confirmed as Xbox One exclusive

And so our story continues. Yes, Microsoft's award-winning and best-selling fantasy saga will continue, with the announcement of Fable Legends for Xbox One.

The game is a prequel of sorts, set centuries before the original Fable during Albion's mythical Age of Heroes. It'll be a four-player co-op game – a first for the series – and will take advantage of Xbox One's powerful Cloud computing power to provide a persistent and ever-changing online world in which to have your adventures. As with all Fable games, it's being developed at British studio, Lionhead.

Perhaps most interestingly, a fifth player can join in, taking on a more villainous role in the game and using the SmartGlass app to play from a top-down perspective and place traps and spawn enemies to challenge the other players. It all sounds a lot like Dungeon Keeper, the early tower defence strategy game that legendary designer Peter Molyneux created before founding Lionhead in 1997.

Fable Legends doesn't have a release date yet, but the Xbox One will hit the UK in November.
