Star Wars in Kingdom Hearts would be 'great' says creator

Tetsuya Nomura, the creator of Disney crossover RPG Kingdom Hearts, has admitted that the addition of brands such as Marvel and Star Wars to the Disney stable has him very excited. Interviewed by Final Fantasy fansite Finaland, Nomura revealed that conversations are happening inside Square Enix to see what crossovers might be possible.

"We've been talking about Star Wars itself since it became Disney's content recently," Nomura said. "When I heard the news I was like 'Wow, wow!' Obviously it's gonna be great if we could add it."

Don't get too excited just yet, as it all depends what Disney is willing to let Square do. "Of course it would be great if we could add those licenses as well," he continued "But there are lots of rules and restrictions by Disney so we can't actually put in everything people want. So it's a quite difficult decision but we're gonna prepare some surprises for you so, just wait for the information."

There is, at least, a precedent. Previous Kingdom Hearts games have included worlds based on live action Disney franchises such as Tron, while the upcoming Disney Infinity mixes up characters from not only Disney movies but Pixar and Pirates of the Caribbean as well.

Whatever happens, it likely won't be in time for the long awaited Kingdom Hearts 3 which was confirmed at E3 last month as in development for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Before then, in September, the PlayStation 3 will get Kingdom Hearts HD Remix, which compiles an HD remaster of the first game in the series along with Kingdom Hearts: reChain of Memories and a 3 hour movie made up of footage from the DS game, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.
